Ukhrul
District : The land of the colourful Tangkhuls was marked out first
a a Sub-Division in 1919 during the British Raj. Then in November 1969 it was
upgraded to a full-fledged district, bearing the nomenclature of Manipur East
District. The area of the district was 8,200 Sq.Km. according to the CSI Publication
1976. Later Tengnoupal District, now called Chandel District was carved out
from this district on 15th July, 1983 and the area of the then Manipur East
District was sliced down to 4,544 Sq.Km. and the title of the district was changed
into Ukhrul District in 1983. Ukhrul is the District HQ. which, now, is extended
down to Hundung.

Tamenglong District
: The northeastern block of India comprises of seven states, popularly known
as seven sisters. Manipur is one of the states, which has been covered with
fame and is known in every corner of the globe for its pure and rich cultural
heritage also for Sports. Out of the state's eight districts, Tamenglong is
located along the western boundary of the state. Festivals Tamenglong is entirely
composed of hills, ranges and narrow valleys. The hilltops and valley sides
are dotted with small hamlets, located at strategic points.

Chandel District : The
Chandel District (formerly known as Tengnoupal District ) came into existance
on 13-5-1974. The District lies in the south-eastern part of Manipur. It is
the border district of the state. Its neighbors are Myanmar (erstwhile Burma)
on the south, Ukhrul district on the east, Churachandpur district on the south
and west, and Thoubal district on north. It is about 64 km. away from Imphal.
The National Highway No. 39 passes through this District.

Churachandpur District
: The Statehood in 1972 saw Manipur divided into five districts, simply
called CENTRAL, WEST, EAST, NORTH and SOUTH Districts. The Central District
comprised of the whole of the Imphal Valley and Jiribam Sub-Division, which
in the 1980s was further divided into the three valley districts of Imphal ,
Bishenupur and Thoubal. The East, West, North and South Districts later became
the hill districts of Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Senapati and Churachandpur, respectively.
A fifth hill district, Chandel, was carved out from the erstwhile East and South
Districts.

Thoubal District : The district of Thoubal, which occupies
the bigger portion of the eastern half of the Manipur Valley, takes the shape
of an irregular and triangular with its base facing north. It lies between 23°
45' N and 24°45' N latitude and 93°45' E and 94°15' E longitude.
It is bounded on the north by Imphal district, on the east by Ukhrul and Chandel
districts, on the south by Chandel and Churachandpur districts and on the west
by the districts of Imphal and Bishnupur.
