Kausani Tourism

Nestling amongst thick. dense pine forests, atop a narrow ridge and separated from the towering mountains of the Nanda Devi range by .low, medium mountains; at Kausani the grandeur of the Himalayan scenery comes alive.

The view of the snow covered Trishul and Nanda Devi is so clear that one gets a feeling of the snows being within toucing distance. Its ethereal sunrise and a 300 kms, wide view of the Himalayan range have attracted thousands of visitors to this place.Eulogized by poets and philosophers, this scenic and beautiful spot offers so much all year round - sightseeing, history, sport, pilgrimage and complete relaxation.

EXCURSIONS

Baijnath:

(16 kms) Situated on the banks of the Gomti river and just below the Kausani ridge is Baijnath, an important pilgrimage and historic centre.

A group of ancient temples dating back to the 12th and 15th century, line the banks of the river, presenting a beautiful sight. Their Intricate carving and stone work is simply awe-inspiring.

Bageshwar:

(39 kms) This important Shalvite centre stands at the confluence of rivers Gomti and Saryu. The famous Baghnath temple built by King Lakshmi Chand in 1602 A.D. adorns the city.

Not only temples, but the sacred confluence and famous Uttarayani fair held annually in mid-January, also make It a revered spot for pilgrims who often equate it to Varanasi in divinity and sanctity.

Qwaldam:

(45 kms) At an altitude of 1829 mts. this typical small Himalayan town surrounded by fruit orchards, is an ideal base for trekking to Roopkund and Pindari glaciers (In Kumaon Himalayas).
